Newfoundland 5 - 6162 is not our lucky number.

Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
NL 5 – 6162 is not our lucky number.
About that number 6162 … 6,162 miles from home … about halfway to the little church in Lewisporte, the Coyote started bucking and jumping. Warning lights on the dash flashed, bells and whistles started clamoring and the vehicle shifted itself down to first gear and would not budge past that. We limped into the parking lot of the church and Dan fussed with it and couldn’t find anything obvious.
So … what to do? Go to Mass! At Holy Family, a little mission of a larger parish down the road, we shared the celebration with 20 other Catholics and a priest from Ghana. (Yes, the Ghana in Africa ... go figure). When we got out of Mass … our dear little Coyote was cured! No lights, bells or problems. We headed out on our way to St. John’s and got 20 miles when the histrionics resumed. So we limped into Gander … on a Sunday! Everything is closed. So, a little campground, laundry, a hot shower, dinner and some reading and writing.
It isn’t over … this is the day for things to go awry. That Sunday evening at the campground, we smelled propane gas … turned it off and just went to bed promising our little Coyote that we would carry out all the repairs tomorrow.  We appeared next morning at the Chevy Dealer in Gander and they ran an ODB meter into it and found four errors with speed monitor and communication with control module. They said they could get to it around two that afternoon.
Meanwhile, we hunted down Colin of Competitive Edge, who was awesome. He stopped what he was doing and got to checking out our propane leak … found it and fixed it … he also does mobile RV repair, among other things.
Hickman Chevrolet fixed our Coyote by replacing the speed sensor. It took two hours while I wrote and Dan read in a nice customer waiting room. Despite scary imaginings of costly repairs we ended up spending only a total for both repairs $198 American Dollars.
Stayed two nights in a private campground … did no sightseeing. Did do a lot of reading and writing and laundry and hot showers and relaxing.
Nothing to see here … this blog deserves no pictures! So tomorrow morning … on to St. John’s, Newfoundland.
